This programme helps everyone in the organization see the 'big picture' - as well as the positive effects their actions have on the business! It helps business leaders create a common vision throughout the organization and build a shared understanding of financial and management goals.
This programme achieves this by helping employees:
- Understand how business generates profits now, and what it will need to generate profits in the future.
- Recognize how to use resources where they will do the most good.
- Identify opportunities for business improvement.
- Generate ideas on ways to positively impact the bottom line and the ability to estimate the dollar value of these ideas.
- Understand the circulation of capital and how this impacts profitability.
- Read and interpret basic financial documents such as income statements and balance sheets.
- Comprehend financial ratios (return on assets, return on equity, profit margins, economic value added, etc.).
The Experience
This programme is a one-day, interactive 'board game' style simulation that not only teaches participants the basics of finance, but also enables them to truly internalize big-picture fundamentals such as cash flow, inventory and sales. Most importantly, they learn how various decisions and actions - including their own jobs - impact profitability.
Designed with non-financial employees in mind, participants work through a variety of exercises (business events) on a workmat™. To start, the 'company' is losing market share in the face of increasing demands from suppliers and customers.
Participants are challenged to build productivity and profitability to meet tough demands from all stakeholders. They must work together to accomplish a number of business objectives. Exercises include devising a financial strategy, monitoring cash flow, reducing time cycles, improving resource utilization and measuring their results in the balance sheet and income statement.
Ultimately, this programme can provide each and every employee with a practical, working command of everyday business processes, creating a common understanding financial strength and success.
